Painting - Water colour

I love the smell of lemon grass. From Scented oil to agarbati's, everything that could take me closer to nirvana had to be lemon grass based. While surfing through the various scented candles recently, I thought I should take a chance with other fragrances as well. Some of the fragrances were so pungent that I lost my ability to smell again for a while. As I glanced through some more bottles, tins and candles, one single jar shaped candle in a glass stood at the very top shelf and right at the back. The label said "CITRONELLA" and the colour of the wax looked was sunset yellow. As soon as I opened the cover of the scented candle jar and took a deep long breadth of the aroma, everything went silent for a bit. The next 5 seconds was an amazing experience and took me back in time, many years back in time!!!

I stroked the last few lines of the petals to add shadow using my size 0 brush. They were the tiny flowers that were attached to the base of the fruit. As I glanced at my piece of art with a tilted head and a painters eye, I realised that I could actually smell the fruit that I had painted. I was in the 4 grade and this was just another painting that would head down the attic in a few months. Nevertheless, I could feel the fruit, smell the aroma if i crumbled the leaves in the painting and then, there was something missing... The painting had to have the colour associated with that smell. I squeezed a few tubes and arrived at a light yelloe colour that was closest to the shades of the sunset. I carelessly stroked the colours across the background to add to the contrast that would mentally make this painting perfect and bring the "Lemon tree" to life

Today, I dont know what ever happened to that painting and I never knew that I had painted something like that, till I opened the scneted candle jar. I never knew that an aroma can rekindle so many joys from the past and bring back to life those tiny little things we might have done.

I purchased that jar to remind me of that paiting and bring back a few more memories from the past. I wish to have many more experiences of this sort in the future, its just that, I dont know when and how will they come... Till then, my citrus flavoured Citronella candle will do just fine...!!!
